The answer is simple: Knowledge.  The more knowledge you have, the more enjoyment you&#8217;ll get out of your boat.  Classes are taught by experienced boaters; people with years of knowledge and experience under various conditions, eager to share with others.<\/p>\n<p>All boaters can benefit from a boating safety class.  Entry-level boaters, with little or no experience, share classes with seasoned boaters.  Together, they learn new techniques and receive updates on the latest regulations and laws affecting boaters.<\/p>\n<p>Topics Include<br \/>\n\u2022\tHandling different hulls under various conditions<br \/>\n\u2022\tHow various propulsion types cause vessels to respond  differently<br \/>\n\u2022\tNavigational aids and chart reading<br \/>\n\u2022\tEquipment required aboard your boat<br \/>\n\u2022\tLessons on marlinspike&#8211;the use of lines, knots and splices<br \/>\n\u2022\tWeather-what to look for and how to recognize conditions<br \/>\n\u2022\tHow to handle emergencies<br \/>\n\u2022       How to use flares and fire extinguishers<br \/>\n\u2022\tProper use of a VHF radio<br \/>\n\u2022\tClasses on first aid<br \/>\n\u2022\tHow to fuel your boat<br \/>\n\u2022\tWhat&#8217;s needed to anchor or moor your vessel <\/p>\n<p>Classes are conducted throughout the year with the most common being conducted by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadron.
