Whether you live on the coast or somewhere in the interior of the United States, there’s no reason to cover old ground this boating season and see the same ho-hum sights. Sure, there’s no place like home, but on the other hand, variety is the spice of life. That’s why man created boat trailers and boat rental operations. And that’s why United Marine Underwriters created LakeBrowser.
LakeBrowser is a free resource for boating and relaxing on America’s lakes and waterways. We currently have 13 states ready for you to start perusing — Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia — and are adding others daily. All you have to do is point at the state in which you plan to boat and click to get information on the navigable bodies of water, their size and depth, and what major city and airport they’re close to.
Click on any specific body of water within a state’s listing, and you’ll get a drill-down with even more details. You’ll learn about fishing in the area, boating access points, lodging, nearby communities and even average temperatures for the entire year. Choose “Map It” to see an interactive Google map of the body of water. Links provide access to area resources such as fishing and hunting license information, state parks and campgrounds, and area wildlife and conservation agencies.
Have a specific activity or interest that you need addressed? The Lake Resource Guide lets you search for marinas, restaurants, boat rental, fishing guides, boat repair, shopping, events, golf courses and more. You can also search by name. It’s like having a local marine buyer’s guide at your fingertips. (And, by the way, if you’d like to add your own business or event, you can do that, too!)
Simply put, we created LakeBrowser to encourage you to get out and enjoy new waters, new adventures. We hope you find it useful — maybe even inspirational. Remember, exploration and fun is what boating is all about!
United Marine Underwriters is more than just boat insurance. Browse our Used Boats For Sale at Boat Browser or our new Lakes and Waterways’ Guide at Lake Browser. Check out our True Fish Tales – the ones that did not get away – and share your fishing stories.
I LIVE IN COLORADO LOTS OF BOATING
IN LAKE PUEBLO
Thanks Kipp, were heading your way and should be in Colorado soon.
My home lake, Lake Murray, Columbia, S.C. is not listed in the Browser. It’s very scenic, marinas and big.
Hi Tim — we’re in the process of adding lakes every week to states, so we’ll ask for your patience. =)
