Children's Life Jackets - Arkansas
Boaters in Arkansas should be aware that children under the age of 12 are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket or life vest when on a boat.
The life vest should also be in good condition and fit the child properly. There are exceptions to this regulation. It is not necessary for a child to wear a life jacker or life vest if they are in an enclosed area of a houseboat or cruiser, or within the area enclosed by railings on a party barge, cruise or houseboat and the boat is not underway.
Not only does the USCG expect you to follow these rules, your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the state boating safety regulations,as well.
