Children's Life Jackets - Delaware

In the state of Delaware, children under the age of 12 are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket or life vest - Type I, II, III, or V, when on a boat.

The life vest should also be in good condition and fit the child properly. The exceptions to this regulation are if the child is below deck, in an enclosed cabin, or when the boat is moored or at anchor.

It is ultimately up to the parent to ensure the child wears a life jacket or life vest. Be aware, the USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the Delaware boating safety regulations,as well.
