Children's Life Jackets - Illinois

In Illinois, all children under the age of 13 is required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved - TYPE I, II, or III life jacket or life vest when underway on a boat less that 26 feet long; and unless the child is in an enclosed cabin.

It is also required that the life vest be in good condition and fit the child properly.

The USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the state boating safety regulations.
