PWC Safety Regulations - Alabama

The state of Alabama, requires that any person who operates a personal watercraft on Alabama waters must obtain a Boater Safety Certification.

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to obtain an Alabama BSC.

Although 13 year olds can obtain a certificate, they cannont operate the PWC without supervision by someone at least 21 years who has his or her Alabama BSC on their person and who is able to take immediate physical control of the craft.

Persons who are 14 and older may operate a PWC without supervision only after obtaining the boater safety certification. The USCG and your PWC insurance company will expect you to comply with the state PWC safety regulations.

Keep in Mind - If you are the owner of a PWC, you are legally responsible if you knowingly allow your PWC to be operated in violation of Alabama law.
