Children's Life Jackets - Louisiana

In the state of Louisiana, children 16 years and under are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket while on any boat under 26 feet that is underway.

The USCG also requires the life vest or life jacket to be in good working condition and fit the child properly.

While it is up to the parent to ensure the child's safety by requiring the use of life jackets or life vests; your boat insurance company and the USCG will still expect the state regulations to be followed.
