Children's Life Jackets - New Jersey
In New Jersey, children under the age of 12 are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket or life vest, when on a boat which is underway.
The life vest should also be in good condition and fit the child properly. The exceptions are if the child is in a fully enclosed cabin that is a permanent, non-removable part of the recreational or commercial boat that is designed to carry passengers.
The USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the New Jersey state boating safety regulations.
