Children's Life Jackets - New Mexico

Children in the state of New Mexico, under the age of 13, are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket or life vest when onboard a boat of any length while underway.

Life vests and life jackets are to be in good condition and fit the child properly at all times. The only exception to this rule is when the child is in an enclosed cabin or below deck.

The USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the state boating safety regulations.
