Children's Life Jackets - Tennessee

In the state of Tennessee, it is required for all children under the age of 12 to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved Type I, II, III, or V life jacket or life vest while on the open deck of any boat.

Life vests and life jackets are to be in good condition and fit the child properly at all times. The only exception is when the boat is anchored, moored, or aground.

The USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the Tennessee state boating safety regulations.
