Children's Life Jackets - Washington

In the state of Washington, it is required for children under the age of 12 to wear U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket or life vest on boats under 19 feet in length while underway.

Life vests and life jackets are to be in good condition and fit the child properly at all times. The only exception would be when the child is in a fully enclosed area.

The USCG and your boat insurance company will expect you to comply with the Washington state boating safety regulations.
